About Me
David Miller (he/him, b. 2004) is an award-winning composer and experienced tenor and bass trombonist. He is currently working towards his BMA in Music Composition at Ithaca College, where he studies with Dr. Sally Lamb McCune and Dr. Jorge Grossmann. He is also an active performer, participating in many of Ithaca’s premiere ensembles and chamber groups.
Drawing from his roots in high school band, David’s music covers a broad scope of topics and styles. Driven by a passion for both performance and composition, he highly values the composer/performer relationship and the unique ideas that collaboration can create. His music strives to bridge the gap between innovation and accessibility, providing a very compelling experience for audience and performer alike.
David’s work has been recognized by multiple competitions, and embraced by even more festivals and schools. His accolades include the PMEA All-State Outstanding Composition Award, International Trombone Association 50th Anniversary Fanfare Contest, Smadbeck Prize, and the Downey Prize. His music has been played at the International Trombone Festival, International Tuba/Euphonium Conference, DC Trombone Workshop, Cyprus Music Festival, and many more festivals and schools across the country.
